Monasteries: Bir houses some of the most beautiful Tibetan monasteries (like Palpung Sherabling and Choukling monastery) representing the Nyingma, Kagyu, and Sakya traditions.

Rajgundha Trek: It is another favorite among the adventure lovers, a 12-13 Km hike from Billing which takes you to the isolated Rajgundha village where you can camp as well. It becomes a popular hike in winters as the trails get fully covered in snow.

Baijnath Shiva Temple: This ancient temple is built in the Nagara Style of temple architecture and is located in Baijnath, a small town between Palampur and Bir (15kms from Palampur towards Bir).

It has a beautiful backdrop of the mighty Dhauladhar range which remains snow covered for more than half of the year. The inner and exterior walls of the temple are full of sculptures of Hindu gods and goddesses. The overall design of this shrine is beautiful and it is a necessary visit for architecture lovers and photography enthusiasts.

Village Walks & Nature Hikes: Best way to know a place is to know the people who live there. You can head out for a walk into the village; do not shy from talking to the very warm and welcoming local people. You may get lucky with an invite for a cup of tea by them.

There are also some hiking routes available in the nearby areas, which lead to some hidden waterfalls and natural pool of water.

Exploring the local markets: You have an option to explore the local markets in Tibetan colony, Chauntara, Baijnath, and Palampur. Tibetan colony is quite famous for Tibetan art and handicrafts.

Here, as tourists, you can attend various sessions which include learning to chant, Buddhist retreat sessions, sessions by Himalayan Film School, Rainy season retreat, photography workshop, Netra tantra - yoga and meditation session for slightly experienced in meditation and some sessions on Hindustani Classical music.
